i'm moving. the fourth move in three and a half years. i would have thought the copious amounts of switching living spaces would have ceased or slowed after college. no luck. first i moved here. then i moved down the street. then i moved about twenty minutes away. and now i'm moving across the country. on the plus side, i know how to change my address on just about everything.
i don't mind moving. i'm a fairly good packer, generally speaking. a skill i learned from watching my father squish a van full of the belongings of two adults and four kids on a road trip to the east coast. twice. space was always at premium. you learn quick how to make the most out of your allotted space. the key is to squish and make sure that everything that has a space has something put in it. for example, a shoe holds shot glasses or a mug can be stuffed with necklaces. no wasted space.
but this time. its no joke as i cross the country with me, my sister, her two suitcases, and all of my belongings. in one car.
i've been noticing with envy the trunk space of cars that park beside me. i stare with longing at RVers who simply carry their house with them. i should get an rv. it would save on rent. i doubt my mail would ever arrive.
so last week i test ran how many boxes fit in my trunk. its minimal. but it's a start. i've got the backseat too right?
with two weeks until moving day i should be packing. but after getting two boxes done, i realized i had no packing tape. and i needed a cool beverage. and my apartment was warm.

You are an EXCELLENT packer. I still use your packing tips that you taught me at Dordt.
Hope the move goes well.
TWO WEEKS is the best part of that post...
:D
TWO WEEKS is the worst part of that post ... (as in the only bad part of that post) One person's gain is another person's loss.
I remember those days of little space and lots of travelling. Splash pants are amazing. Do they still make those? :) ~mum
Where are you moving? To the west coast? :)
